NORTHERN VETERANS TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE RESULTS
HELD AT LEIGH SPORT VILLAGE ON WEDNESDAY 4TH AUGUST 2010

The weather turned out very fine despite a wet day and there was a good turnout at the track. Despite a plan on the night to start the meeting at 6:30 the advertised time of 19:00 was re-instated. There was also a planned change to the advertised field events with the substitution of the discus from the hammer, but there was such a turnout with competitors travelling large distances the hammer was put on at the end. this lead to 5 field events and there was a strong presence with many fine performances. The sprint events were well supported but there was a drop off in the quality in the middle and long distances but this meant that those competing could pick up more points than usual.

There was a strong club atmosphere and many were taking the opportunity to warm up in advance of the inter-Area match the following weekend. The facilities are so superb at Leigh Sport Village that this was a great meeting and thanks go to Derek Howarth and Leigh Harriers for their sterling efforts.

Hopefully you will all enter and attend the NVAC T&F Championships at Hyndburn on September 26th, and there is the Yorkshire Veterans Championships the previous weekend 19th September. Also the 10,000m Championships back at Leigh on October 17th.
