Directions: From M61 Jct. 3 (southbound) Jct. 2 (northbound) take the A666 towards Bolton. Proceed for 2 miles until the main turnoff for Bury (A579/A58). Turn right off the A666 onto the A579 Bradford Street and proceed to the A579 Bury Road and the A58 . After one mile turn right into Long Lane after the traffic lights. If coming from Bury turn left before the lights having just come through Breightmet. If coming from Rossendale/Ramsbottom follow the A676 until the A58 crossroads at Castle Hill; turn left onto the A58 to Roscow Fold and Long Lane is again to the left shortly after merging with the A573 out of Bolton. If coming from Horwich take the A58 Victoria Road off the A673, continuing along Moss Bank Way and Crompton Way through Castle Hill and proceed as above.Track & Field League, Leigh Sports Village June 17th
Directions: From Manchester leave M61 Jct 4, turn left to roundabout, and right onto A6 towards Chorley. At next crossroads turn left onto A579 Newbrook Road through Atherton. Coming out of Atherton on A577, bear left to regain the A579 along Atherleigh Way. Proceed on long straight to roundabout, keep straight ahead, entrance to Leigh Sports Village is a quarter of a mile on the left. From the A580 East Lancashire Road take the A579 Lowton St. Mary's By-pass for a mile, keep straight ahead at the junction for Leigh. The Leigh Sports Village is a quarter of a mile further on on the right hand side. Turn into the site, keep right to the hotel, then bear left and left again rightaround the back to Leigh Harriers HQ.
10km Road Championships, Platts Fields, Fallowfield, Manchester 28th June
Directions: From M56 Jct.3 or M60 Jct.5 head north on the A5103 Princess Parkway/Princess Road towards the City centre. After a mile-and-a-half from the M60 turn right at the second big crossroads onto the A6010 Wilbraham Road towards Fallowfield. Follow the A6010 left at the next big crossroads into Wilmslow Road. Take the 6th left turn on the corner of the Manchester High school for Girls into Grangethorpe Road. Park in the road alongside the Platts Fields on the right. The facilities are at the Leisure Centre.
Radcliffe Monthly Run, Mason Arms, Sion Street July 5th
Directions: From North and South leave the M60 at Jct.17 and follow the A56 for a third of a mile. Either turn left at the Derby Arms at Whitefield onto the A665 or continue straight-ahead on the A56 for just over half a mile and turn left onto the B6473. Continue along the A665 down a long hill to Radcliffe two miles further on. Turn left at the new Asda store. At roundabout behind McDonalds go down Sion Street; Masons Arms is on the right. Parking is allowed along both sides of the road and in the car park opposite the pub. From Bolton take the A6053 through Little Lever turning onto the A665 approaching Radcliffe. Follow the road around the centre of Radcliffe and on descending the hill turn right into Sion Street at the traffic lights at Asda and McDonalds.
Track & Field League, Princess Mary Stadium, Cleckheaton, July 15th
Directions: M62 Jct.26, turn off signed M606 for Bradford: eastbound from Manchester keep left and immediately down to the roundabout, keep right and round to the third exit A638 for Dewsbury; westbound from Leeds keep left down to the roundabout and take second exit left on A638 for Dewsbury. Head south-east for one mile, pass through the centre of Cleckheaton, continue for one mile further and the track is on the right just before the leisure centre. 7pm start, refreshments and changing in the clubhouse, very friendly reception, very nice track.
Track & Field League, Vernon Park, Stockport, August 12th
Directions: M60 Jct.23, turn left on Manchester Road towards Ashton and Stalybridge. After half a mile keep left at roundabout towards town centre into Margaret street. Follow one-way system left and right and then keep straight-ahead up Richmond Street. Keep up over railway bridge and traffic lights, track is then to your left. Keep straight-ahead at roundabout and then turn immediately left in to track and park. There is plenty of parking and facilities at the track. To get back to the M60 turn right at the traffic lights on top of the railway bridges and follow new road across roundabout and industrial estate until back at Manchester Road. Turn left for M60 North and keep straight on for M60 South.

Follow signs for Airport – Lytham St. Anne's – A5230. At 1st Roundabout go LEFT (A5230). At next Roundabout take the 3rd LEFT (A5230 Airport). Follow this Dual Carriageway through 4 sets of lights (pass Airport). On reaching the Promenade Traffic Lights turn LEFT for St. Anne's, passing Pontins after ¼ mile. Approx 1 mile on, go straight through the Traffic Lights and take 7th on left (Beach Road). This takes you up to the Fire Station.
Park politely on surrounding streets as there is no parking on the Fire Station. Be aware of some parking restrictions.
Changing – There are ample facilities at the Fire Station.
Toilets – These are slightly restricted, but others close by are available.
Showers – Two cubicles for the men and one for the ladies, (obviously limited).
Race start – This is on the North Beach Car Park approx. ¼ mile from the fire station.
Please do not park on this car park as it is part of the course and would increase the danger to runners as they are finishing.

Directions: From M60/M62 Jct.18 head North on the M66 and onto the A56. branch on to A682 through Rawtenstall and north to the Burnley Road. After three miles approach Clow Bridge and turn right into Bank View just before the Reservoir. From M65 North (Colne) leave motorway at Burnley Jct.11, skirt the town centre and pick up A682 Manchester Road heading south towards Rawtenstall. From M65 west (Blackburn) leave motorway at Jct.8 turn left on A679 towards Burnley and turn right at the next traffic lights after half a mile, following A646 towards Halifax. Climb long hill to next traffic lights, turn right onto A682 (Manchester Road) towards Rawtenstall. After 1.5 miles Clow Bridge Reservoir is on your left; drop down and turn sharp left into Bank View. Use the car park as you turn in; the Rossendale Sailing Club House is at the top of the hill with excellent facilities and a cracking view.
Track and Field Championships, Wilson's Fields, Clayton le Moors, September 27th
Directions: From M65 Jct.7 head North to the A678 (away from Accrington) in the right hand lane. Turn right at the T-junction with the old works right ahead, head uphill half a mile to the main traffic lights at Clayton-le-Moors. Turn left one mile downhill on the A680 towards Whalley and Clitheroe, turn right into Wilson's Fields and the Athletics Track near the bottom of the hill just after the parkland woods.

Directions: From M65 Jct.4 follow the A666 south through Darwen, watching the speed restrictions; head uphill through Cadshaw, then turn left onto B6391 dropping down to Turton. Take a sharp left turn at the bottom of Chapeltown down to Turton Bottoms, then climb up half a mile to Edgeworth, the Institute is on the right, turn into the car park just after the building. From M61 Jct.5 follow A58 to the A676 cross roads after 5 miles; turn left (North) for Ramsbottom; turn off left on the B6472 after half a mile to Bromley Cross. Turn right immediately after the railway bridge past the station and proceed north to Turton Bottoms and continue on to Edgeworth Institute. From Ramsbottom and the M66 follow the A676 south through Holcombe and Hawkshaw, and turn right at Walves Reservoir on a sharp left hand bend onto Bury Road and then shortly left onto Birches Road for Turton Bottoms and right to Edgeworth. Believe me, it is worth the journey, because the run around the Wayoh and Turton & Entwistle Reservoirs is the Northern Veterans best kept secret! It is stunning! And there's a very interesting history inside the Edgeworth Institute!
