Track & Field League, Sportcity, Beswick, Manchester, Sept 7th.

Directions: From the North Blackburn/Bury take M66 onto the M60 for Jct.19. From the East M62 to Jct.18 turn Southbound onto the M60 for Jct.19. Turn right onto A576 Middleton Road for Manchester centre. At junction with A665 bear left onto Bury Old Road leading into Cheetham Hill Road. At junction with A6010 turn left and continue through two major junctions on to Alan Turing way reaching the B of the Bang outside Manchester City FC. Turn right into Ashton New Road and right again after 400m into Rowsley Street and the entrance to Sportcity.
From the west M62 onto the M602 and turn left at Jct.3 the end of the motorway onto Albion Way. Turn right at the next big junction onto A6. The East Lancs Road A580 will also bring you to this point. Follow the Ring Road onto the A665 and past Ancoats Turn left on to the A62 Pollard Street, leading into Ashton New Road. Just after the railway bridge in 3/4 mile turn left into Rowsley Street and the entrance to Sportcity.

Monthly Run, Edgeworth October 9th

Directions: From M65 Jct.4 follow the A666 south through Darwen, watching the speed restrictions; head uphill through Cadshaw, then turn left onto B6391 dropping down to Turton. Take a sharp left turn at the bottom of Chapeltown down to Turton Bottoms, then climb up half a mile to Edgeworth, the Institute is on the right, turn into the car park just after the building.
From M61 Jct.5 follow A58 to the A676 cross roads after 5 miles; turn left (North) for Ramsbottom; turn off left on the B6472 after half a mile to Bromley Cross. Turn right immediately after the railway bridge past the station and proceed north to Turton Bottoms and continue on to Edgeworth Institute.
From Ramsbottom and the M66 follow the A676 south through Holcombe and Hawkshaw, and turn right at Walves Reservoir on a sharp left hand bend onto Bury Road and then shortly left onto Birches Road for Turton Bottoms and right to Edgeworth.
Believe me, it is worth the journey, because the run around the Wayoh and Turton & Entwistle Reservoirs is the Northern Veterans best kept secret!  It is stunning!  And there's a very interesting history inside the Edgeworth Institute!

Directions: From Manchester leave M61 Jct 4, turn left to roundabout, and right onto A6 towards Chorley. At next crossroads turn left onto A579 Newbrook Road through Atherton. Coming out of Atherton on A577, bear left to regain the A579 along Atherleigh Way. Proceed on long straight to roundabout, keep straight ahead, entrance to Leigh Sports Village is a quarter of a mile on the left. From the A580 East Lancashire Road take the A579 Lowton St. Mary's By-pass for a mile, keep straight ahead at the junction for Leigh. The Leigh Sports Village is a quarter of a mile further on on the right hand side. Turn into the site, keep right to the hotel, then bear left and left again and keep right around the back of the rugby stadium to Leigh Harriers HQ.

Monthly Run, 10k/5k cross country. Smithills Sports Centre, Bolton January 2nd.

Directions: From M61 North, exit Jct.6 for Horwich, bear left (North) past the Reebok Stadium to roundabout on A673. Turn right to junction with A58, turn left and continue for 2 miles past Moss Bank Park to traffic light junction. Take sharp left turn, Smithills Sports Centre is third turn on right after a few hundred yards. From M62 or M60 take the M61 but turn off immediately on the A666 for Bolton. Continue for 3 miles until junction with A6099 bearing off left (Halliwell Road). Take A6099 for 3/4 mile to traffic light junction with A58 Moss Bank Way. Continue straight across into Smithills Dean Road; Smithills Sport centre is on the right. From Ramsbottom and the M66 follow the A676 south through Holcombe and Hawkshaw and Bradshaw to cross-roads with A58 Crompton Way. Turn right and follow through next big cross roads onto Moss Bank Way. At junction with A6099 bear right into Smithills Dean Road for the Sports Centre on the right. This is a new course in the Smithills Country Park at the back of the Sport Centre; this should be very enjoyable.

Cross Country Championships. Victoria Park, Warrington February 20th.

Directions: M6 Jct.21, follow A57 towards Warrington, turn left after 2 miles onto A50. Continue on at roundabout and traffic lights into one-way system after 1 mile. Turn right by the large railway bridge  onto A5061, Victoria Park is ½ mile on the right. AVOID coming through the centre of Warrington.

Follow signs for Airport – Lytham St. Anne's – A5230. At 1st Roundabout go LEFT (A5230). At next Roundabout take the 3rd LEFT (A5230 Airport). Follow this Dual Carriageway through 4 sets of lights (pass Airport). On reaching the Promenade Traffic Lights turn LEFT for St. Anne's, passing Pontins after ¼ mile. Approx 1 mile on, go straight through the Traffic Lights and take 7th on left (Beach Road). This takes you up to the Fire Station.
Park politely on surrounding streets as there is no parking on the Fire Station. Be aware of some parking restrictions.
Changing
– There are ample facilities at the Fire Station.
Toilets
– These are slightly restricted, but others close by are available.
Showers – Two cubicles for the men and one for the ladies, (obviously limited).
Race start – This is on the North Beach Car Park approx. ¼ mile from the fire station.
Please do not park on this car park as it is part of the course and would increase the danger to runners as they are finishing.
Results
– These will be available on www.ukresults.net and also be available on www.weshamroadrunners.com
you can also leave an  SAE and they will be sent to you.

Prizes
– There is an extensive prize list however any prize not claimed on the day will not be forwarded on.

Monthly Run, 10km road. Padiham Leisure Centre, Padiham April 10th.

Directions: From the west (Preston/Blackburn/Accrington) take M65 to J8. From the South (Manchester/ Rochdale/Bury) take M66 and A56 to M65 J8. Follow A6068 North to crossroads with A678; turn right towards Padiham and Burnley. Through the town centre after sharp right hand bend turn right into Station Road and keep straight ahead for Park Road. Padiham Leisure centre is on the left hand side.
From Todmorden on A636 follow the road up hill avoiding Burnley centre ahead to junction with A679. Keep ahead at crossroads following A646to T-junction with A671. Turn left for Padiham and heading uphill into the town Station Road is on the left. Turn left into Station Road and keep straight ahead for Park Road. Padiham Leisure Centre is on the left hand side.

Track & Field League, Princess Mary Stadium, Cleckheaton, April 13th

Directions: M62 Jct.26, turn off signed M606 for Bradford: eastbound from Manchester keep left and immediately down to the roundabout, keep right and round to the third exit A638 for Dewsbury; westbound from Leeds keep left down to the roundabout and take second exit left on A638 for Dewsbury. Head south-east for one mile, pass through the centre of Cleckheaton, continue for one mile further and the track is on the right just before the leisure centre. 7pm start, refreshments and changing in the clubhouse, very friendly reception, very nice track.

Monthly Run, 10km road. Broomfields Road Recreation Centre, Stockton Heath May 8th.

Directions: From M56 J10, take A49 north towards Warrington. Two miles on right is Bridgewater High School, pass the school and turn right down Broomfields Road. Access to Recreation Centre is round the back of St Monica’s R.C. Primary School.

Track & Field League, Herringthorpe, Rotherham June 16th.

Directions: Herringthorpe track.
Leave M1 Jct.33 to Rotherway. At roundabout turn right onto Bawtry Road East A631. (cross A618). At next roundabout take Valley Road A6123; at next roundabout turn left into Wickersly Road A6021. After a quarter of a mile turn right into Middle Lane South, the stadium is on your left.

Monthly Run, 10km tracks. Crossford Bridge, Sale, June 19th.

Directions: From M60 Jct.7 (linked up with Jct.6), turn south towards Sale. Turn left into Dane Road B5397 after a few hundred yards. Take fifth turn on the left just before the canal bridge into water treatment centre, entrance to the track is a little way up on the left.

Radcliffe Monthly Run, Mason Arms, Sion Street July 10th

Directions: From North and South leave the M60 at Jct.17 and follow the A56 for a third of a mile. Either turn left at the Derby Arms at Whitefield onto the A665 or continue straight-ahead on the A56 for just over half a mile and turn left onto the B6473. Continue along the A665 down a long hill to Radcliffe two miles further on. Turn left at the new Asda store. At roundabout behind McDonalds go down Sion Street; Masons Arms is on the right. Parking is allowed along both sides of the road and in the car park opposite the pub. From Bolton take the A6053 through Little Lever turning onto the A665 approaching Radcliffe. Follow the road around the centre of Radcliffe and on descending the hill turn right into Sion Street at the traffic lights at Asda and McDonalds.

10km Road Championships, Bispham, Blackpool August 14th

Directions: From the end of the M55 at Jct.4 turn right and North along the A583 towards Blackpool centre. After 2 miles turn right onto the A587 following signs for Fleetwood. Past Stanley Park on the left and Blackpool Victoria Hospital on the right continue on across two roundabouts and two mini roundabouts for three miles to the big double roundabout at Bispham Village. Turn left at the second roundabout into Red Bank Road and the Fire Station is three roads up on the right. Turn right into Sandhurst Avenue and park on the road. Registration, changing, refreshments and presentation in the Fire Station. The start and the finish is half a mile further up Red Bank Road across the Promenade on the cliff top.
